Why a Free Bet Is Worth Less Than Its Face Value

Duelbits is listed among crypto casinos on almost every comparison site, and its welcome offer is a sportsbook free bet. People claim it expecting bonus funds for slots and get a betting token with sports conditions instead. Worse, the number on the token overstates what it can deliver — for a reason that applies to every free bet you will ever be offered.

Stake returned, or not

A free bet comes in two shapes and the difference is large. With a stake-returned free bet, winning at odds of 2.00 on $100 pays you $200: your stake plus your profit, exactly as a cash bet would.

With a stake-not-returned free bet — which is what Duelbits offers, and what the great majority of free bets are — the stake is consumed when the bet settles. Winning at 2.00 on a $100 token pays you $100. You keep the profit; the stake was never yours.

So the headline “$100 free bet” describes the token, not the money. The most it can ever return at even odds is half what the number suggests.

What the odds do to it

Because only the profit portion survives, the value of a stake-not-returned free bet rises with the odds you take — while the probability of collecting anything falls.

OddsReturns if it winsRoughly how often that happens
1.50 (the minimum here)$50About two times in three
2.00$100About one time in two
4.00$300About one time in four

Multiply the two columns and, at fair odds, they land in the same place — which is the point. The bookmaker’s margin is priced into every line, so no choice of odds turns a free bet into a good bet; longer odds simply trade certainty for size.

The practical consequence is the opposite of the usual advice: with a stake-not-returned token you want longer odds than you would normally back, because the stake is not yours to protect.

The 5x rollover is genuinely light

The free bet is released after a 5x rollover at minimum odds of 1.50. Set against the casino bonuses on this site, that is a different league.

OfferRequirementOn $100
Duelbits free bet5x$500 of qualifying bets
Crashino deposit match35x on the bonus$3,500 of turnover
Shuffle.com deposit match35x on deposit + bonus$7,000 of turnover
Fairspin deposit match45x on the bonus$4,500 of turnover

The rows are not strictly comparable — sports rollover at minimum odds and slot turnover at 96% RTP consume money at different rates, which is why we never rank them against each other. But the difference in scale is real, and it is the strongest thing about this offer.

We had this one wrong

An earlier version of this page described a Duelbits casino bonus of 200% up to $200 at 40x wagering. No source supports it. It came from our own casino database and it has been removed.

The correction matters beyond the number, because the two offers are not even the same product. Somebody acting on the old figure would have deposited expecting slot bonus funds and found a sportsbook token with a minimum-odds condition — a worse outcome than simply being told the wrong multiplier.

This is the same failure that produced a Cryptorino offer that appears in no source and a WolBet bonus for a site that runs none. The audit that found all three is described on our methodology page.

Before you claim any free bet

Ask whether the stake is returned. It is the single biggest determinant of value and it is usually one line deep in the terms. If it is not returned, halve your mental estimate of the offer at even odds.

Check the minimum odds, which markets qualify, and whether the token can be split across bets or must go on one. Then check the expiry — Duelbits gives 7 days, which is short if you only bet at weekends.

And be clear which product you are signing up to. If you wanted a casino deposit match, this is not one, and the deposit-match comparison lists the operators that have them.

Questions

Is the Duelbits free bet stake returned?

No. It is a stake-not-returned free bet, so a winner at odds of 2.00 pays $100 rather than $200. The face value overstates what the token can deliver by roughly half at even odds.

Does Duelbits have a casino welcome bonus?

No. The welcome offer is a sportsbook free bet of up to $100 released after a 5x rollover at minimum odds 1.50. There is no casino deposit match despite the site being widely listed among crypto casinos.

What odds should I use a free bet on?

Longer than you would normally back. Because the stake is consumed either way, there is nothing to protect — longer odds trade a lower chance of collecting for a bigger return, and at fair odds the expected value is similar across the range.

Did Duelbits ever offer 200% up to $200 at 40x?

Not as far as we can establish. That figure appeared on an earlier version of this page, we could find no source for it, and we removed it. The sportsbook free bet is what the research supports.
