The Lowest Wagering We’ve Measured — and Why It’s Still Negative

Of every deposit match we have measured, FortuneJack’s is the cheapest to clear — and it still loses money. That is not a criticism of FortuneJack. It is the most useful fact in this whole category, because it tells you what the best available offer looks like and therefore what any better-sounding claim probably is.

Where break-even actually sits

The sum is simple enough to do in your head. A multiplier of m on the bonus costs m × 0.04 per unit of bonus at 96% RTP, and you started with 1 unit. Break-even is where 0.04m = 1.

That is 25x. A deposit match at 25x on the bonus alone, played on a 96% RTP game with no cashout cap and no game weighting, is worth exactly nothing on average. Anything above 25x is a loss; anything below it would be a genuine edge.

No deposit match in this market offers 25x on the bonus. The lowest headline multiplier we have found is PiratePlay’s 25x — applied to deposit plus bonus, which makes it equivalent to 50x on the bonus and one of the worst offers in the comparison. The number and the term never arrive together.

FortuneJack gets closest

30x, applied to the bonus — and the basis is actually stated, which most operators in this market leave out. Clearing $100 of bonus takes $3,000 of turnover and costs about $120 in expected house edge, so you keep about −$20 per $100.

That is a fifth of what 1xBit and mBit cost at 40x, and a quarter of Fairspin’s 45x once its cashout cap is applied. In a category where the typical answer is “you lose most of the bonus”, losing a fifth of it is a materially different proposition.

It is still a loss. A bonus is a cost with a discount attached, and 30x on bonus funds is simply the smallest cost we have measured. If you have decided you want a deposit match, this is where the arithmetic points.

Why the basis mattered more than the 30x

Had FortuneJack applied the same 30x to deposit plus bonus, on a 110% match the base per $100 of bonus would be about $191, the cost about $229, and the net about −$129 — worse than 1xBit’s 40x and near the bottom of the table.

One word, a swing of over $100 per $100 of bonus. The basis article covers how to find it in a terms page.

What still limits it

Winnings from the bonus are capped at 5x the bonus. As caps go this is a mild one — it leaves room for a genuinely good run to pay out before it binds, unlike a cap tied to your deposit.

The maximum bet while wagering is $10. That is manageable at moderate deposit sizes and becomes the binding constraint near the 1.5 BTC ceiling: a very large bonus at $10 a spin is a great many spins.

And the cap itself is denominated in bitcoin, so any fiat figure you see quoted for this offer is a snapshot of an unrecorded price. The 250 free spins across four deposits are a separate offer and are not in any of these numbers.

What this tells you about everything else

Use −$20 per $100 as your reference point. It is roughly the best a deposit match gets. Any offer claiming to beat it substantially is either not a deposit match, or is being described inaccurately.

The genuinely positive offers in this market are a different shape entirely: cashback paid as real money, rakeback, and no-wagering promotions. None has a turnover requirement, which is precisely why none of them can cost you anything to accept.

If somebody advertises a large deposit match at a low multiplier with no cap, the thing to check first is the basis, then whether the offer exists at all — see how to spot a figure that cannot be real.

Questions

What wagering requirement would break even?

25x on the bonus alone at 96% RTP: 25 × 0.04 = 1, which exactly cancels the bonus. Nothing in this market offers it on a deposit match. FortuneJack’s 30x is the closest, at about −$20 per $100 of bonus.

Is FortuneJack’s bonus actually good value?

It is the best deposit match we have measured and it is still negative. Losing about a fifth of the bonus is a very different proposition from losing most of it, which is what 40x and 45x offers cost — but it is a loss either way.

Which bonus types can actually be positive?

The ones with no turnover requirement: cashback paid as real money, rakeback, and zero-wagering promotions. Nothing is at risk to unlock them, so accepting one cannot cost you anything.

How much is 1.5 BTC worth in this offer?

There is no stable answer — the cap is denominated in bitcoin. We publish cost per unit of bonus instead, which holds whatever the exchange rate does.
